Description
The ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral is an uncommon new release from Oceans, Reefs & Aquariums (ORA®). Making infrequent appearances in the aquarium industry, Asterospicularia corals are arguably one of the most unique ornamental octocoral available. Thanks to the efforts of ORA® the lovely ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral is now readily available for coral hobbyists as a sustainable aquacultured frag! Similar to other octocorals, the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral can grow rapidly when established injecting exceptional texture and movement to your reef aquarium landscape.
Ideal conditions for the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral include an established reef aquarium with moderate lighting conditions achieved by T-5 fluorescent, powerful LED, or the more intense metal halide light fixtures. For best care, it is imperative to maintain high water quality for the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral ensuring proper pH, alkalinity, and calcium levels while keeping phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. Along with proper lighting and water quality, the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral will benefit from medium, intermittent water flow within the aquarium. This can be easily achieved with the addition of powerheads, wavemakers, or water circulation pumps.
Though the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral hosts symbiotic photosynthetic zooxanthellae algae to help satisfy a major portion of its nutritional requirements, the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral will benefit from supplemental weekly feedings of micro-plankton and other foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates especially when housed in reef aquariums that do not contain fishes. For continued good health, the ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
The ORA® Aquacultured Asterospicularia Coral is attached to a composite plug and can be easily placed in holes or between the rockwork of the reef aquarium.
