Description

HydroPlex is a scientifically developed copper free, antibiotic free, broad spectrum water treatment that is effective for the control of parasites and microscopic organisms found in aquaria and ornamental ponds including bacteria, ciliated protozoa, dinoflagellates, copepods, small [platy]helminthics and annelids, molds, fungi, yeast and microalgae. HydroPlex is also proven to be effective for the elimination of brown slime due to diatoms, as well as for the control of viral diseases. It is especially effective, and strongly, recommended, in a dip regimen for cleansing new arrivals of unwanted parasites and bacteria, especially if a quarantine tank regimen is not practical. It is very effective for treating diseased fish via a dip regimen or in hospital tanks.

Not as advertised

The product doss a reasonable job at knocking around 25% of most external parasites off in the 10min dip and about 40% in a 15min dip. Unfortunately at QT strength it has zero effect at all, even when dosed daily. This means it is an alternative to a freshwater dip or H2O2 dip that is less harmful to sensitive fish but not nearly as effective and certainly not an alternative to QT. And despite the video stating it will kill the parasites off even if they don't fall off in the dip is a complete lie, there is no reduction in numbers or impact on reproduction after the dip treatment (even dipped twice daily for 2 weeks), however the parasites knoed off in the dip do die being left in there for a few hours. I have tried in on nematodes, flukes and parasitic copepods and it is not really effective at all other than reduces some of the numbers on the fish themselves. The only real upside is sensitive fish like dragonets, seahorse and wrasse are all fine and show no issues with 15min dips. P.s. Testing for hydrogen peroxide as an active ingredient is negative.
